Who we are

The Asociación Protectora de Animales de La Nucìa is a non-profit entity, whose purposes are the protection of animals.

Our task is carried out in pursuit of two objectives, on the one hand to prevent abandonment and mistreatment of animals and on the other to cure, to give refuge to those animals that, unfortunately, have already been abandoned or mistreated, and thus improve their living conditions.

Our Mission

Our main objective is to foster respect for animals and to the extent of our possibilities to mitigate the consequences that resulted from the actions of irresponsible and heartless people who abandon and dump their animals as if it's just thrash. Their faithful hairy friends who have never done more than just being themselves.

They come to us scared, injured and often suffering sociopathies caused by continuous abuse that can take months of treatment. All those puppies and cats that one day were abandoned by their owners, find with us love, care and the hope of "a second chance".

Our Team

Our tasks consist of amongst others:

  • Daily cleaning of the facilities and the animals.
  • Feeding
  • Health check; Monitor in the clinic and bringing the animals to the vet if necessary, distribution of medicines to the sick animals, carry out checks in collaboration with our veterinarians.
  • Management of occupation and placement of the animals.
  • Bringing dogs and cats to the airport when they are ready to travel.
  • Maintenance work on the facilities.
  • Receive and inform the people who visit us. Answer phone calls.
  • Receive by appointment schools that visit us, show them around and explain how the shelter works.
  • Sorting and classifying food and other donations.

Would you like to join the team?

It's amazing what the permanent team gets done each and every day. But without volunteers it would be impossible to be 100% responsible for animal welfare. That is why the shelter is always looking for people who want to volunteer to help with tasks such as greeting, dog walking, cleanering, maintenance etc., etc. Are you willing and able to contribute to the happiness of our dogs and cats? Please take a look at the "Volunteers wanted" page.
