Adoption of a dog directly from the shelter

If you live in Spain and you have the idea to adopt a dog or cat from our shelter then it is certainly a good idea to come and see the animal here first. You are welcome to come by during our opening times *. First register at the office for a moment and make your intention known, we will then try to help you as well as possible and answer your questions.

If you want to adopt a dog in the shelter, you pay the shelter a contribution towards the medical costs. Adult bitches are required to be sterilized. Included in the adoption:

  • Deworming
  • Vaccinations (rabies included).
  • Implanted identification chip
  • Registration of the microchip in the database of RIVIA
  • International passport

The costs for adopting a puppy as well as a adult dog are 180, = euros.

If you adopted a female puppy, you can have her sterilized after her first cycle at the expense of the shelter at our vet in Polop. You can also choose a different vet, however the costs will then be for the adoptant.

Since we are not a commercial institution and our primary responsibility lies with the welfare of the animals and not with being customer care professionals, it sometimes happens a visitor is not immediately noticed and greeted. In cases like these, please have a bit of empathy with our work load but do not be embarrassed to take the initiative in addressing an employee / volunteer (often recognizable by shirts or sweaters with the logo of the asylum or the foundation sphoek) yourself.
